\nThe Chamber held the general debate on and then voted through bill 8040, which harmonises the lower career grades of state civil servants and state employees, replacing categories C and D with two groups C1 and C2.
\nMaurice Bauer (CSV), welcoming the harmonisation on behalf of his party and stating the reduction from 27 careers to four:

As the CSV we expressly welcome this harmonisation of the lower careers of state civil servants and state employees, because it makes it possible to go from 27 careers today down to only four.

\nGusty Graas (DP), stating that the bill goes back to the 2016 salary agreement and that the vote comes eight and a half years later:

It is in fact the result of a salary agreement of 5 December 2016. That means that eight and a half years later we finally come to the vote today.

That is of course anything but satisfactory, and I hope we all agree that salary agreements must be implemented faster in future, first to keep trust and second to avoid retroactivity going back too far.
