On the first day of the debate on the new CSV-DP government programme, group leaders set out their positions on the housing and construction crisis and on the measures the coalition agreement announces for it.
The Chamber debated the tax chapter of the government programme, in particular the adjustment of the tax table by four index brackets on 1 January and the announced individualisation of taxation by 2026.
Group leaders assessed the health chapter of the government programme, covering the shortage of doctors and care staff, waiting times, hospital beds and the ambulatory turn.
The education chapter of the government programme was debated, including the school curriculum reform planned by 2026, literacy teaching in French, the international schools and vocational training.
The climate chapter of the coalition agreement was debated, with the majority defending continuity of the climate targets and the ADR rejecting them; the LSAP asked for the responsible minister to be heard before the COP.
Group leaders discussed the role of the Chamber towards the new government, the electoral system and the number of deputies, and the way the coalition agreement had been kept confidential before its presentation.
