{"id":"seances/2025-01-23-n062","title":"Sitting of 23 January 2025","type":"seance","date":"2025-01-23","html":"
Public sitting 62 of the Chamber of Deputies, 23 January 2025. The verbatim text is in Verbatim record.
\n
Topics debated
\n
\n
The financial centre and financial regulation\n
\n
The Chamber debated projet de loi 8053, which transposes the EU mobility directive on cross-border mergers, divisions and conversions of companies into Luxembourg company law, and adopted it by 58 votes to none with 2 abstentions (Marc Baum and David Wagner); it also adopted motion 1, tabled by rapporteur Stephanie Weydert on behalf of every group except déi Lénk, asking the government to evaluate the law and the notary's anti-abuse check after one year.
\n
\n
\n
Foreign affairs and world conflicts\n
\n
The Chamber held a general discussion on the resolution tabled by Paul Galles on the presidential election of 26 January 2025 in Belarus, which condemns the Lukashenko regime and encourages the European Union to strengthen sanctions, and then adopted it; the ADR said the sanctions point made the text hard to support, which set off a personal exchange between Fred Keup, Sam Tanson and Sven Clement.
\n
\n
\n
Labour law and social dialogue\n
\n
In his interpellation on the effects of climate change on the world of work, David Wagner tabled three motions; motion 2, which asked the government to open a reform of the Labour Code on safety and health at work with the social partners and to make climate risks a compulsory item in collective bargaining, was rejected by 35 votes to 25, and motion 3 on adding climate-related occupational diseases to the recognised table was sent unanimously to the Health and Social Security Committee.
\n
\n
\n
Climate policy\n
\n
The same interpellation by David Wagner turned on how far Luxembourg's climate policy plans for adaptation; his motion 1, asking the government for an ambitious adaptation strategy and plan that takes the world of work and occupational risks into account and involves the social partners, was rejected by 35 votes to 25, the CSV calling it superfluous because a draft adaptation strategy was already going to public consultation.
\n
\n
\n
\n
Speakers
\n
\n
<a
